Fashion Week is OVER!!!...
I'm saying this with so much sadness in my heart. This is the 1st fashion week that I wasn't in New York City. Don't worry, Spring '08 fashion week ( which is in Fall 07, i didn't get it at first either, *Wink*), hopefully I can book a show or two. Anyway,Bonita Fashionista's .. I'm here to give you the low down of all my favorite designers and my personal opinion on what was shown. I'm gonna try to be as brief about each of the designers.... but I'm telling you its gonna be hard... SO WORK WITH ME!!! ;-)
My favorite new designer is Rachel Roy. She designed her line in Spring '06 and has nothing but the best reviews from all the right people such as my personal favorite, Andre Leon Talley ( another person who came to visit my high school last year). Here's a video describing who she is to those who aren't familiar with her line Here are also a few pictures from her Pre- Fashion Week Show.
I simply HEART Rachel Roy!!!! She is definitely the epitome of what a designer is. She designs clothes that are for contemporary business women. I see nothing but greatness and expansion in the very near future...
Next up is the Betsey Johnson,
For me, she makes fashion fun and exciting and her cartwheels just kill me... I wanna be able to do that when I'm her age. Hell, I'm 19 and I can't cartwheel or split. The first person who introduced me to the line of Betsey Johnson, was my mother. I instantly fell in love with all the colors and patterns... but I was 8 years old. Sooo, as I got into junior sizes, IT WAS ON! Here were the standout pieces in BJ show.
The theme in this show was the " School of Charm".. and Charming it was!! What I respect the most about Betsey is that she knows how to to be adventurous with her line and not afraid of what others think. BANG UP JOB! Kudos!
1st off... I wanted to congratulate Diane Von Furstenburg on becoming the president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America. This is another line that my mother introduced to me and also I was able to meet her at the 2005 Glamour Magazine's Women of the Year Awards where she received an award. Instead of pictures... I have a 2 minute video.... YAY!!!! DVF knows how to reincarnate a classic look. The theme for her pieces this season was Spanish inspired. The wrap dress design has been around for decades but still seems to entice the interest of fashion lovers everywhere.... I LOVE DVF!
MARC JACOBS!!!! A personal favorite of mine... I knew it was an obsession when I requested a school bag from him.. and his ballet flats are so comfortable and beautiful.
His show was based on French Glamour in the 70's yet it was very innovative. One person commented that his work was " revolution not evolution". I was impressed with the "Complex Simplicity" of this season. I'm too excited to see whats up next with him....
Wacky, Crazy, Colorful... Can you guess what I'm talking about????.... NOT Keyshia Cole's old weave ( HAHA! I'm playin')
Heatherette.... I was very excited when I initially heard that they were making a line at Macy's.. too bad I havent had the chance to check it out though. This season was entitled " Over the Rainbow" with Wizard of Oz inspired things.
When looking at Heatherette, you must be prepared to see the unexpected. Also when watching or attending one of their shows... please know it is a SHOW.. and ALL of the pieces aren't Ready-to-Wear. In the slide show above, there are some pieces that I would love to wear and would probably receive complements about them... I like Heatherette alot and because of their eclectic attitude... They will continue to excel.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST, is BABY PHAT!
Kimora Lee Simmons ( or just Kimora Lee , i dunno) is FABULOSITY! I anticipate seeing her shows each season. The clothes, the MUSIC!!! It's a DREAM I also respect that on a normal day... Kimora can be seen rocking her own designs. Which isn't seen often...... In this show was theme was Russian Party Girls. Models were seen wearing fur on their head(Babushka's, shocked I knew the actual name?? ME TOO ) and even on their shoes. These designs were sexy indeed!!!! Hopefully I can find them and possibly get me a date, Just Kiddin'!
I HOPE YOU ENJOYED READING ABOUT MY FAVORITE DESIGNERS FASHION SHOWS! I promise to shorten it next time.. but I just had so much to say!
Well catch ya lata!!!
BESOS Hunnies!

Are you and I the same person or are you reading my mind?
I LOVE all of those designers-don't sleep on Tracy Reese, now (although her Spring Collection didn't wow me like it usually does-maybe designing for THREE labels is taxing her talent?)! Rachel Roy is more talented than I thought (and I hate that, 'cause I NEED a reason to hate someone that beautiful).
Have a great week!
